Last Day at Camp Timbercrest

Last night’s campfire was a blast and it was also long being it was session 6 closing and the very last one for the summer. The girls sang their hearts out and enjoyed the huge fire as well as the cool flame changing colors with special powder.

On Friday, the last day of camp, the campers and counselors are just being super crazy and having fun with everything. Breakfast was pancakes, which didn’t last long as everyone enjoyed them so much. After breakfast it was time to head back to the units to clean and pack everything really well. With the units cleaned, it was time for Friday Follies, a little talent show where the girls can sing song, do skits, or just have a good time on stage. Afterwards, it was time for lunch, which ended up being mac and cheese, peaches, salad, and tater tots. Everyone ended lunch with a super full tummy before they headed off to their units for one last look over and some me time.

Time for All Camp!! The theme for the week was Disney so it is very fitting all camp was the same. The girls were split into four groups and rotated though four stations, which were Disney song trivia, catch Flounder, Frozen snow fight, and Brave painting. The girls were having a blast the whole time and were excited as they changed between the stations. Once All Camp was over it was time for the horse girls to eat dinner and head off to the barn to get for their horse show.  At 6 p.m. the rest of the girls started their dinner and then went off to the parent program, which started at 7 p.m.

Now time for the campers to head home for the summer. This is the last time the counselors will say goodbye till next year to some of the campers. It is a sad day for all but a happy one knowing we will all see everything again one day. Goodbye to everyone and hope to see you next year here at Camp Timbercrest!

Last Night for Cookout

This morning was cloudy but the girls got up and headed down from their units for flag then off to breakfast. As breakfast started, so did the rain. It seemed to rain lightly on and off all morning. After breakfast, everyone went off to do their morning activities for this little rain wouldn’t stop them. Bridle & Bit girls had their trail lunch today. They did awesome and very much enjoyed it. In fact, they never stopped talking about it! This morning, girls did archery, went boating, played gaga, and worked on some arts and crafts. Sadly, because of all the rain from yesterday (we had over 2 inches), no one could swim for 24 hours due to bacteria imbalance in the water.

With the morning over, it was time for lunch, then it was off to me time right after. Usually after me time, we give the girls a chance to swim and do the Buffalo swim, which allows girls with blue caps to swim across the lake, but we couldn’t do that either, which was disappointing for many. Then it was off to the units again for cookout, which is where the girls cook their own dinner. It is a fun bonding time and the girls can act crazy with their friends. With it being our last week of the summer, we all came back to the lodge for a movie night. We ended up watching Frozen.

Now the girls have gone to bed for the night and all is quiet.

Rainy Tuesday Day

Well, we all woke up to rain this morning that was still coming from the huge thunderstorm we had last night. The Hawthorne girls had some of their stuff get soaked but thankfully we had a dryer to help. Breakfast was waffles and sausages, and everyone really seemed to enjoy the waffles. After breakfast it was time for unit kapers then the girls were off to their morning activities. Half the units did some archery and then there was swimming, arts and crafts and everyone even went to the trading post today. The Pony & Me horse girls rode in the morning and also talked about their overnight.

Lunch went very well today. It wasn’t anything big, just sandwiches, which everyone still enjoyed. Now off to the units for some me time before the lovely afternoon activities. The activities started out great. Campers did some boating and some archery. The bridle and bit girls tacked up their horses and the first group started their lesson. But sadly the thunderstorm decided to come back, which stopped the horse girls from riding the rest of the time and prevented any swimming and any more boating. Dinner was pretty good and not all girls seemed to enjoy it but it was really good. Camper’s Choice was next but thanks to the down pour of rain, we had to move things around because we couldn’t do things outside.

With everything over, the darkness has rolled in and it is time for the girls to head back up to their units and head to bed.

Beautiful Monday Morning

The sun is up and it is a start to a beautiful warm sunny day.  The campers got up and ready as they headed down to camp for morning flag, then hung out at the singing stairs to it was time for breakfast (which wasn’t long).  After breakfast the units did their camp kaper of the day, which is where they clean a certain area of camp like the lodge or the showers.  Then it is off to do their morning activities which were mostly swimming and arts & crafts.  Though our bridle & bit girls did also ride the whole morning as well as learn to tack and groom them.  There was still some other things like archery, BFF and raft building for the Survivor girls.  Before anyone knew what time it was lunch was upon us.

Lunch was awesome!  We had apple sauce, french fries and chicken patties.  Everyone eat as much as their tummies could hold.  Once lunch was over the girls headed up to their units for me time to rest and digest all the food.  The weather started to change and got cloudy with the wind picking up.  This didn’t stop the girls as they headed to their next activities after me time.  Drama seemed to be the biggest thing happening this afternoon with some fishing, swimming and boating.  The pack out horse girls headed to the barn at this time to do some riding lessons and to get ready for their pack out.  With the afternoon a little chilly the girls still enjoyed their activities as much as they could take in.

Dinner was goulash with green beans and salad if someone wanted it. Dinner was now over and it was time for campers choice where the girls get to choose from 4 activities that some counselors run.  The activities ranged from synchronized swimming to learning to sing different Disney songs.  Now with the activities over it was time for girls to start heading back to their units to get ready for bed.  Time to sleep and welcome the next day filled with fun new activities.

Beginning of the Last

Today is the beginning of session 6 but sadly it is the last week of campers for the summer here at Camp Timbercrest. Counselors have mixed feelings about it. Happy to still be at camp, but sad that everything we now do is the last time we do it.  Things seemed to lighten up as the campers pulled in and everyone brightens up to see them roll in for the week.  Campers headed to their units, were checked in and meet their counselors. After everyone had arrived it was time for their swim tests and for the horse girls their riding tests.  Once they were over the girls headed back to their units to do a campstitution and start some BFF (Be a Friend First).

After everyone has settled in and played a few name games after dome BFF it is time for flag and then dinner.  Dinner was hamburgers, fruit salad, salad and noodle salad, plus dessert which were awesome brownies.  After dinner it was off to opening campfire at the totem pole on the other side of the lake.  Counselors did their skit and introduced themselves to everyone else and then sung their fast songs with their campers.  Campfire was now over and it was time for the girls to head back to their units. Everyone was excited to get ready for the next day.

Friday for Session 5!

The sun is up and it is time to wake up for the last day of session 5.  The girls walk down for their last breakfast at camp.  After breakfast the girls head back up to their units to start their packing.  Once everyone is packed and all their stuff is labeled and under the unit shelter they head back down to the lodge.  Friday Follies starts once everyone has arrived and are seated near the singing stairs.  Every unit had their own skit and/or song.  Once all the campers and counselors have gone though their amazing skits it is time for lunch.

Lunch, of course, is pizza Friday with peaches.  Even on our Fridays we have the lovely me time so the girls get one more rest time before they finish out their day and the week.  With me time over the CITs have come up with all camp this week for the theme as “Around the World in 6 Days.”  They have come up with timed stations for the campers to go though so they all get a chance to do and try everything.  All camp was a blast, the campers enjoyed the stations and they really seemed to like making candy sushi.  After the stations it was an all out capture the flag.  Everyone enjoyed the game!

Time for dinner for the horsey girls so they can then head to their horse show for their parents.  Once 6pm rolls around it is time for the rest of camp to have dinner and time for the horse show.  With dinner over and 7pm upon us it is time for parent program where the units all sing a song for them one at a time or sometimes does a skit for them as well.

The campers are now off and heading home with their parents.  Session 5 has now come to an end and session 6 is just around the corner.

Thursday 8/7/14

Thursday is already upon us as the sun raises to wake us up for the day.  Everyone was excited for the new day as they came down from their units.  Breakfast went like normal with everyone filling their tummies getting ready for the day.  Boating seemed to be the biggest hit today with all but Jackman’s doing it today.  All the horse girls got to ride today and even did some barn chores.  Finally it was a nice day for everyone to enjoy without having any rain to stop them.

Lunch was wonderful with grilled cheese and tomato soup.  Me time was next like always as the girls got to relax and enjoy the day some more.  The afternoon was filled with swimming and some archery, as well as some games.  The campers seemed to be everywhere today playing and yelling and just having a blast, could be from it being Thursday and they were going home tomorrow or just that it was a sunny day.  Today’s dinner was a Luau!  We had ham with pineapple, mashed potatoes and corn to go with the theme.  When everyone entered the dinning hall they got a lay to wear for the dinner.

Now with dinner over it was time for the units to head back to be picked up by Bloomer to head to closing campfire.  Every unit song their two fast and two slow for the end of the week.  Campers enjoyed themselves during campfire and then at the end were ready to head to bed for the night.  Now with Friday just around the corner session 5 is at its end.
