Tremendous Thursday!

Thursday was our last Thursday of camp. It is definitely sad for the summer to end but we are all thankful for the experiences we have shared with the friends we have made. The morning went on as usual. Swimming and boating were both popular activities as well as archery and hiking. Our dinner Thursday was a United Nations dignitary meal where each table represented a different UN member country. The dining hall was decorated with the colors of the UN flag. After dinner we all went over to the totem pole for the final campfire of the summer. This campfire lasted longer than the others and was very meaningful to everyone.

Tremendous Thursday!

Today was our last Thursday of camp. It is definitely sad for the summer to end but we are all thankful for the experiences we have shared with the friends we have made. The morning went on as usual. Swimming and boating were both popular activities as well as archery and hiking. Our dinner tonight was a United Nations dignitary meal where each table represented a different UN member country. The dining hall was decorated with the colors of the UN flag. After dinner we all went over to the totem pole for the final campfire of the summer. This campfire lasted longer than the others and was very meaningful to everyone. This week has been wonderful and we are happy to have one more day of camp fun!

Session 6 Wednesday!

Wednesday was a very exciting day. The weather was great and the waterfront was opened up again. The morning started like all mornings with polar bear swim. Campers can come down to the swim area at 7am to take a dip in the lake which is actually much warmer than the air. In the morning the groups swam, visited the trading post, and went on a hike.

Lunch for around the world week was a proper British tea. The dining hall was decorated with the British Flag and we all sipped tea throughout our meal. Wednesday afternoon was the buffalo swim. Anyone who is a blue cap has the opportunity to swim all of the way across the lake to the totem pole and back. After buffalo swim, each of the units prepared for their cookout tonight. Each group made a different dinner. For example Sprucewood made hot dogs and hamburgers, and Strawberry hill made vegetable soup and s’mores.

Last night the “My Backpack. My Pony, and me” girls headed out to Pineapple Junction for their overnight with the horses. They are having a great time and we can’t wait to hear about their awesome adventure.

Tremendous Tuesday

This week is going by so fast! In the morning all of the units visited the trading post where they bought some awesome Camp Timbercrest items. Unfortunately, because of the large amounts of rain Monday night, swimming was closed. However, everyone engaged in some awesome alternative activities such as decorating swim caps and playing games in the sports field.

Tuesday was also dress like your favorite international counselor day for around the world week. In the afternoon, archery and boating were popular destinations. Also, the group in the Yurts went geocaching in the woods surrounding camp. Tuesday is another night of campers choice and campers are gearing up to choose their favorite activities.

Session 6 Monday!

Monday was an awesome day here at Timbercrest. In the morning the girls all engaged in an array of activities from boating and swimming to archery to horseback riding. We were also very excited to welcome our core camp group Monday morning. Because of our around the world theme, our lunch was an accent lunch. Everyone had to talk in a different accent throughout the entire meal!

Luckily the rain held off until the evening, so this afternoon Hawthorne participated in Drama games with Moo and Jackman’s hit the lake. After dinner, we had camper’s choice. Each camper signed up for an activity that most appealed to them. Last night’s options were painting in the program center, Spanish for beginners, and quidditch in the rain. Everyone had a blast. Everyone is exhausted, but excited for the rest of the week!

Splendid Sunday!

Sunday we welcomed our session 6 campers! We are all very excited to finish out the summer strong. As girls arrived, they unpacked their belongings in their units and were introduced to their counselors for the week. When everyone made it to camp, all of the groups headed down to the waterfront for swim tests. The girls enjoyed their swim in the lake to cool off.

After swimming, the girls played ice breaker and name games to get to know their fellow campers and staff. Some popular games were the name train, and two truths and a lie. After dinner, we all made it to the other side of the lake for opening campfire. At campfire, the counselors in each unit performed a funny skit to introduce themselves. The skits this week revolved around our “around the world” theme. Also, each unit taught two fast songs and one slow song to the rest of camp. We had such an amazing first day of session 6, we are excited to see what the rest of the week has in store.

Fabulous Friday

Friday was the last day of session 5. We are sad to leave this beautiful camp but excited to see our families. After breakfast this morning, every unit went to their tents or lodge to pack to go home. Once packing was done everyone gathered outside of the dining hall for Friday Follies. Friday Follies is a tradition where every Friday, we host an all camp talent show. Campers and staff sing songs, perform skits, and show off any other talents. When Friday Follies was finished we all went into the dining hall to enjoy some delicious chicken nuggets and tater tots.

After lunch, we had all camp again. This week’s all camp was a Miss Timbercrest pageant. Each unit selected one counselor to represent their group in the pageant. Jackman’s Lodge chose Dreamer; Strawberry Hill picked Ginge, and Sprucewood elected Moo. The campers worked with their counselors to create the best outfits for each category. The categories were eveningwear, Timbercrest Spirit, and Swimwear. In the end it was Moo and Sprucewood that came out on top, but everyone had a great time.

When the pageant was over, the camp had about an hour of swim time. The rest of the evening will be spent hanging out with new friends and reflecting on the week before heading home. This was such a fantastic week!
