One of our favorite annual events is Skills and Chills at Camp Seven Hills. Girls from around council gather the last weekend in September to compete in camp survival skills, including knot-tying, log sawing, canoeing, fire building, orienteering, and tent-pitching.
Before Skills and Chills, girls can learn these skills at Ready Set Camp in the spring, hosted at Camp Timbercrest. Guides and judges from Skills and Chills join the girls to teach them what they’ll have to do and what they’ll be judged on at Skills and Chills. It might not be the first or last time they practice these skills, but it’s a great way of learning directly from the experts.
