At Girl Scouts, we’re always in the mood for camp and we love any reason to talk about it. Fortunately, we don’t have to wait until July to satisfy our summer camp cravings because in two weeks, we have Girl Scout Camp Week!

Girl Scout Camp Week, happening Monday, April 15, to Friday, April 19, is a time to celebrate Girl Scouts as groundbreakers, big thinkers, and role models in the great outdoors. You can celebrate with us and win both daily and one-time incentives during the week. Check in to our social media daily for exciting giveaways and informative Facebook Lives!

This year, incentives include:

Daily Incentives

• Engagement Incentive: WIN Camp-themed items like a: water bottle, bucket hat, drawstring backpack, or camp T-shirt) via Facebook or Instagram! Winners will be selected randomly the day after the question has been posted to social media. Winners will receive a DM or private message asking which item they would like and which GSWNY service center location they would like to pick up their prize. Winners must be a currently registered adult or girl members of Girl Scouts of Western New York. New members may participate same day as completing their GSWNY registration 4/15/19-4/19/19.
• Camp Join Incentives: Everyone who registers as a new camp member or registers a new camp member will be entered for a chance to win one daily gift card of $25 to the GSWNY Camp store, Target, or Walmart. Winners will be emailed with the notification of when and where to pick up their gift card 4/15/19-4/19/19.

One-time Incentive:

• Everyone who registers as a new camp member or registers a new camp member will be entered for a chance to win a free week at camp to be used at GSWNY Day, Resident or Troop Camp or win a Camp Onesie. Winners will be emailed with the notification of when and where to pick up their gift. 4/15/19-4/19/19.

April 15 – Monday: Preparing Girls For Girl Scout Summer Camp And Camp Week Kick-Off

• Wear your favorite camp gear. Take a photo in your favorite Girl Scout Camp gear and send a photo and/or share your favorite camp story by emailing it to: communications@gswny.org. Also, post the: I’m a Girl Scout and I love Camp and Outdoors graphic to your social media to let everyone know your love of the outdoors.
• Tune-in to a Facebook Live throughout the day or evening, check-in for exciting giveaways around Camp and Outdoor programs.
  • Facebook Live – Members of Camp & Outdoor will speak about how to prepare girls for Girl Scout Summer Camp.
  • Daily Incentives: Engagement and Membership on Facebook and Instagram

April 16 – Tuesday: A Parent’s Guide To Girl Scout Summer Camp

Girl Scout Camp Week Activity

• Talk with your girl(s) about Girl Scout Summer Camp. Review the Day, Resident, and Troop Camp guides and camp information packets with your girl(s) and discuss which programs to register for. Comment about some of your favorite camp programs on GSWNY’s social media.
• Tune-in to a Facebook Live throughout the day or evening, check-in for exciting giveaways around Camp and Outdoor programs.
  • Facebook Live – Members of Camp & Outdoor will speak about how parents can prepare to send their girl(s) to Girl Scout Summer Camp.
  • Daily Incentives: Engagement and Membership on Facebook and Instagram

April 17 – Wednesday: Girl Scout Outdoor Experiences Year-round

Girl Scout Camp Week Activity

• Go outdoors. Engage in an activity outdoors whether it’s a troop activity &/or taking a walk and breathing in the fresh air. Send photos of how you like to spend your time outdoors to communications@gswny.org.
• Tune-in to a Facebook Live throughout the day or evening, check-in for exciting giveaways around Camp and Outdoor programs.
  • Facebook Live – Members of Camp & Outdoor will speak to the breadth of how girls can have Girl Scout Outdoor Experiences Year-round.
  • Daily Incentives: Engagement and Membership on Facebook and Instagram

April 18 – Thursday: How I Use My Girl Scout Camp Skills To Help In Everyday Life

• Discuss how the skills learned at Girl Scout Camp can help in everyday life. Engage in a discussion with your girl(s) about how the skills learned at Girl Scout Summer Camp can help in everyday life such as learning to engage safely and responsibly in outdoor activities, gaining the confidence to take on new challenges through learning how to start a fire, climbing a ropes course, hiking, and more.
• Tune-in to a Facebook Live throughout the day or evening, check-in for exciting giveaways around Camp and Outdoor programs.
  • Facebook Live – Members of Camp & Outdoor will discuss how girls can use Girl Scout Camp skills in everyday life.
  • Daily Incentives: Engagement and Membership on Facebook and Instagram

April 19 – Friday: Open House & Taste of Camp

• Sign up and get others to attend a Summer Camp Open House or Taste of Camp Event. Do you or a friend want to know more about Girl Scout Summer Camp with the opportunity to tour camp and ask questions about camp programs? Attend a Summer Camp Open House or Taste of Camp event.
• Tune-in to a Facebook Live throughout the day or evening, check-in for exciting giveaways around Camp and Outdoor programs.
  • Facebook Live – Members of Camp & Outdoor will talk about our Taste of Camp events and open houses and the benefits of attending.
  • Daily Incentives: Engagement and Membership on Facebook and Instagram
