Session 3 at Timbercrest has begun!

Hello there blog readers!

Welcome to session 3 at Camp Timbercrest! Yesterday and today have been absolutely awesome. The CITs spent the weekend at Camp Seven Hills with their CITs and had a great time starting their First Aid/CPR videos as well as having a movie night, bonding with one another, and enjoying a different camp perspective. We welcomed in our general programs as well as My Backpack, Pony, and Me girls who will spend their Tuesday afternoon, night and Wednesday morning exploring the state riding trails at Pineapple Junction, just up the road from camp. Our general girls spent a lot of time teambuilding, developing their “campstitution” where they come up with their unit’s rules for the week. All of our horse girls, including our core campers took their horse tests yesterday as well.

Our opening campfire was particularly raucous last night (I did get a bit of video which I will upload to Flickr), with all of our core campers enjoying the crazy atmosphere! We’ve got a group of Brownies who are “Sweet Treats,” they will be making edible campfires today during their siesta, jumping into the water during all-camp swim, and they got to go on a hike with Gryffyn (one of our camp interns) this morning. They’re very enthusiastic about everything they’re doing. Our riding core campers, “Tack & Trails” are taking a trip on a trail for lunch this afternoon. All of our girls were swim-tested this morning as well so they’re all set for playing on the Summit Express this afternoon.

It’s bright and sunny today, and yesterday we were lucky to stay out of the path of the thunderstorms rolling through northern Pennsylvania yesterday (we are close to the state border). If it rains–we will still have lots of things to do! Tonight campers will choose from staff-led activities: dancing with Caro in the dining hall (Caro is an international counselor from Poland and she’s a professional dancer), all kinds of painting in arts & crafts, and a big game of four square (along with sidewalk chalk art for those who get “out”) at the basketball court. What a beautiful Monday here at Camp Timbercrest.

I hope that you’re enjoying your week thus far…wish you were here!
