Chapter 5: Thursday “The Last Dance”

Farewells are always hard. It is the hardest at closing campfire on the closing week. It was a bittersweet day as we are gearing up for the end of the year with new and old Timbercrest family and friends.

First, the Ooey Gooey crew definitely got dirty…. even sharing the love of all things gooey with assistant directors Dreamer and Aurora with a little whipped cream love. It was messy, but a little rinse in the lake made things better.

However, it was the closing campfire that had everyone teared up. The torch was canoed over by Fao, Dreamer and Aurora where Net, our camp director met us for the passing of the torch. The torch then was passed through the hands of all of this year’s staff before it lit our final campfire of the summer.

Songs and tears were shed, the passing of the friendship stick was done, and a beautiful tribute song was sung by Dreamer and Echo to our staff. It was an emotional as we closed the evening through the candlelit walk into our friendship circle. What a magical way to end our summer.
