Become a Counselor in Training this Summer!

We believe in leading like a girl and providing leadership programs for our girls at every level. When it comes to camp, our Counselors in Training, or CITs, have the opportunity to do so at camp from ages 13 to 17.

Junior CIT

Begin training to become a camp counselor at ages 13 and 14. Junior Counselors in Training (JCITs) learn the fundamentals of leadership, camp management, childcare, and the safety and risk management aspects of running a camp program.

A participant must demonstrate appropriate maturity for her age, have leadership potential, a positive attitude, and be able to work well with others. Junior CITs can access all of the basic camp programs, (e.g., swimming, exploring nature, arts & crafts, and relaxing around campfires.)

This is a two-week program, but girls go home over the weekend. No application, interview, or references required.

CIT

This four-week course will concentrate on the fundamentals of the Girl Scout Camping program, counseling techniques, leadership, self-esteem, and provide skills that are necessary when working with younger campers. Participants, ages 15 to 17, will plan and assist with the supervision of activities, as well as assist with instruction supervised by senior staff.

The CIT program is a recognized training program throughout the country and is a recommended prerequisite for summer camp employment. CITs will receive certification in First Aid and CPR and their CIT pins upon successful completion of this program.

Prospective CITs will receive an additional application packet that must be completed prior to the start of the program. Girls that complete the full CIT program will be invited back the last week of camp as a Camp Seven Hills Intern.

CIT/Riding Instructor

This four-week riding program is for girls who wish to teach riding at the camp level. Concentration will include extended riding and teaching skill training, as well as counseling techniques, leadership, self-esteem and ways to work with younger campers.

Riding Counselors in Training (RCIT), ages 15 to 17, will receive certification in First Aid and CPR and their CIT pins after successful completion of this program. You must be at the intermediate to advanced levels of riding for this program. RCITs will earn the horse patch with rider level(s).

Prospective RCITs receive an additional application packet that must be completed prior to the start of your RCIT program. Girls that complete the full RCIT program will be invited back the last week of camp as a Camp Seven Hills Intern.
